Biography

Tricia Stringer lives in the Copper Coast region of South Australia with her husband and their assorted animals. This home base has proved a wonderful place to raise their three, now adult, children and has been a starting point for many a family holiday, camping in favourite Flinders Ranges spots or travelling to other states of Australia. She enjoys a variety of crafts and sipping the odd glass of wine when she’s not tangling with computers, reading a good book or walking on the beach hatching her next story.

Tricia grew up on a farm and as the youngest of three children she was good at entertaining herself. She had a very patient cat who was often dressed in dolls clothes and pushed in a pram! There was always a scrub full of trees to climb or turn into cubbies, sheds and farm equipment to explore and all the usual jobs that needed to be done on a large mixed farm.

Tricia started her working life as a junior primary teacher and has always worked in education with a bit of time out raising her own children. With her husband, she has also run a Post Office and bookshop. Currently Tricia is a teacher/librarian and information technology coordinator at a local school.

Reading and writing have always been a focus in Tricia’s life. She reads widely from preschool age picture books through all the genres and age groups to adult fiction. Over the years she has penned pieces in newsletters related to her many interests. She has written articles on issues and best practice for educational magazines along with news reports for regional and state newspapers. It was a yearning to write stories which would bring local history alive for children that started Tricia on the journey to develop her writing skills and begin to write for younger readers.

She completed a Diploma in Children’s Writing from the Australian College of Journalism in 2000 and since that time has been continually honing her writing by taking part in courses, attending conferences and workshops and critiquing for fellow writers.

Tricia is now the author of five published books, two for children and three for adults. She has another children’s book currently pre publication and her next adult manuscript underway. She finds great enjoyment in bringing history to life for children and also in portraying life in rural Australia in her adult novels. There’s always another story to be written.
